LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

R. Huff, in trust, a small piece of land adjoining
the lot on which Broad Creek meeting-house is
built for the purpose of a burying ground, and the
said Thomas R. Huff, being now deceased, and the
several parties then concerned having no use for
the said lot as a burying place, the said John
H. Stokes, surviving Trustee, with the consent of
the several parties, now asks the authority of the
Legislature of Maryland to sell and convey said
piece of land as above stated.

Powers to
convey.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John H. Stokes, surviving Trus-
tee, he and he is hereby authorized to sell and convey
to the Trustees of the Deer Creek Monthly Meeting
of Friends for the use of their members at Broad
Creek meeting, all that parcel of land held by him
as surviving Trustee.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from its passage.

Approved April 4, 1870.

 

CHAPTER 269.

 

AN ACT entitled an Act for the payment of an
annual pension to William Brown, of Annap-
olis, who lost his arm whilst in the employ of
the State.

Preamble.

WHEREAS William Brown, of Annapolis, was
employed under the direction of the Executive to
assist in firing the usual national salute, on the
fourth day of July, eighteen hundred and sixty-
nine; and whereas it appears that owing to the
carelessness of one of the persons engaged with
him, and not from any want of care on his part,
the said Brown lost his arm, and was otherwise
seriously and permanently injured and disabled,
and thereby has been deprived of the means of live-
lihood, and for these reasons has a good and equi-
table claim against the State; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, upon the w ar-
