county Circuit Court of the county in which he
has had a trial.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 232.
|
|
AN ACT to amend further the Act entitled "An
Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Liberty
Turnpike Company, in Carroll County," passed
at January Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-
six.
|
Repealed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section eight of Chapter fifty-
five of the Act of January Session, eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-six, be repealed and the following
section enacted in lieu thereof.

Toll gatherers
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany having completed the road or so much
thereof, from time to time, as aforesaid, it shall
or may be lawful for them to appoint such and so
many toll-gatherers as they shall think proper to
collect and receive of and from all and every per-
son or persons using said road, the tolls and rates
hereinafter mentioned, and to stop any persons
riding, leading or driving any horse, mares or
gelding, cattle, sheep, hogs, sulky, chaise, chair,
phaeton, coach, coaches, cart, wagon, wainsled, or
other carriage of pleasure or burden, from passing
through the said gate until they shall have paid
the same, that is to say, for every space of ten
miles in length of the road, the following sum of
money, and so on in proportion for any greater or
less distance, that such person or persons shall use

the said road, for any greater or less number of
sheep, hogs or cattle, viz : For every score of sheep,
ten cents; for every score of hogs, ten cents; for
every score of cattle, twenty cents; for every horse,
mule, mare or gelding, which may pass through
