Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the channel, or
canal made under the provisions of this Act shall
be and is hereby declared a public highway and as

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That in consideration
of the expenses incurred by said Company in con-
structing and keeping in repair the improvements
herein mentioned, and for carrying out the pro-
visions of this Act, the said channel, or canal

to impose such tolls and charges as they may have
proper on all boats, lighters or vessels, their own-

persons shall empty or suffer to escape from their
premises into said channel or canal, or into any
tributary or stream flowing into said channel, any

structing the same, or who shall injure the said
channel, wharves, or any works or buildings con-
nected therewith, shall forfeit and pay the dam-
ages sustained therein, to be recovered, with costs
of suit, before any Court or Justice of the Peace
having cognizance thereof.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the said chan-
nel, wharves, vessels and improvements of said

soever for the space of ten years from the passage
of this Act.
