Court for said county, a certified copy whereof shall
he evidence in any Court in this State, and in de-
fault of the said Treasurer executing said bond he

sioners shall declare the said office vacant, and
shall proceed to fill the same by the appointment
of a suitable person for the remainder of the term
for which he shall have been appointed, and such
appointee shall, before he enters upon the duties of
his office, execute and deliver a bond of the same
tenor, and in like manner as hereinbefore directed.

Sub-Sec. 3. In case of a vacancy in said office of
Treasurer in consequence of death, resignation, re-

moval or disqualification, the County Commission-
ers shall fill said vacancy as soon thereafter as
practicable.

pay taxes.

Sub Sec. 4. The said Treasurer shall receive and
pay over to the County Commissioners, or their
order, the proceeds of all taxes levied in said
county, and shall keep full accounts of all money
received by him, and of all matters relating to the
duties of his office, with all vouchers relating
thereto, and shall, whenever the County Commis-
sioners may require him to do so, present to them
for their inspection an exact account of all his re-
ceipts and expenditures, and a true and faithful
exhibit of all moneys that have come into his hands
and been paid out by him, and shall perform such
other duties as the County Commissioners may
from time to time require; he shall receive such

compensation as the County Commissioners shall
think proper to allow, not more than fifteen hun-
dred dollars per year, and at the expiration of his

term of office he shall transfer and deliver to his
successor in office all books, accounts and papers
of every kind connected with his office, and all
money belonging to the county that may be in his
custody and charge as Treasurer aforesaid.

said county, or a collector for one or more of said
districts, it shall be the duty of the several
collectors of taxes to pay over under oath to the
Treasurer of the State of Maryland and the Trea-
surer of Washington County, on the first Tuesday
