that said Commissioners be empowered to levy
upon the taxable property of said county a sum of
money sufficient to pay the amount of such com-
pensation as they may allow or award.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 173.

 

AN ACT, to amend and make perpetual the Char-
ter of the society of Redemptorists of the City
of Baltimore incorporated January twenty-first
eighteen hundred and forty-two.

 

WHEREAS, the Charter of the society of Redemp-
orists granted by an Act of the General Assembly
of Maryland on the twenty-first of January in the
year eighteen hundred and forty-two, expires by
limitation of said Act on the twenty-first day of
January in the year eighteen hundred and seven-
ty-two; and whereas, said Society of Redemptor-
ists have memorialized the General Assembly and
desire to have made perpetual their Charter, and
to have the same amended as herein provided,
therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Act of Assembly passed on
the twenty-first day of January in the year eigh-
teen hundred and forty-two, chapter twenty-six,
incorporating the Society of Redemptorists by the
name of the Redemptorists, be, and the same is
hereby made perpetual, subject however at all
times to the repeal of the same by the Legislature.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That section third
and fourth of said Act of eighteen hundred and
forty-two, chapter twenty-six, be, and the same

are hereby repealed, and in lieu therefor, be it
enacted, that the property to be held under this
Act shall not be greater. than will realize an in-
come of thirty thousand dollars in any one year.
