any person or persons interested in the property,
over and through which the said street, lane or
alley is to be opened, closed, extended, widened or
improved, and they shall within ten days after
.such valuation or assessment, return the same in
writing under their hands and seals, with a certi-
ficate of their qualification before a Justice of the
Peace, as hereinbefore provided, to the Commis-
sioners of said village, which said valuation and
assessment shall be ratified or rejected by the said
Commissioners as in their judgment may seem
proper. And if any person shall feel aggrieved
by the determination of the said Commissioners in
ratifying or rejecting said award or return, or in
the amount of compensation awarded, or in any
matter relating to the same, may appeal, within

ployees, such reasonable compensation as they may
deem proper and pay the same from the fund here-
inbefore provided to be raised by a direct tax on
the assessable property in said village.

120. All persons holding offices under the pre-
sent corporation of said village, and all persons
elected or appointed under the provisions of this
Article, shall hold such offices until their succes-
sors shall have been elected or appointed and quali-
fied.
