incorporated by the name of the Maryland College
ot Pharmacy, and shall by that name have per-
petual succession, may sue and be sued in any
Court of this State, may have and use a common
seal, and at their pleasure alter and change the
same, and they shall have power to establish by-
laws and orders for the regulation of said institu-
tion; provided the same be not repugnant to the
Constitution of the State of Maryland, or of the

Powers.

United States; and they shall have power to take,
hold and possess any estate, real, personal or
mixed, by subscription, gift, grant, purchase,
devise, or otherwise, and the same improve, lease,
exchange, or sell and convey at pleasure; provided

that the value of real estate held at any time by
said Corporation shall not exceed ten thousand
dollars, over and above the amount necessary for
the requisite buildings, chemical, philosophical
and pharmaceutal apparatus, library and other
appurtenance to the objects specifically contem-
plated by this Act.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the offi-
cers of said College sha1! be a President, two Vice
Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Board of
three Examiners, which said officers shall consti-
tute a Board of Trustees, of whom five shall form
a quorum for the transaction of business; said
Board of Trustees shall have control and direction
of the funds of said corporation, the appointment
of professors or lecturers and all the subordinate
officers of said College, and shall, in the name of
the Maryland College of Pharmacy, issue certifi-

cates of membership, adopt rules and regulations
for the examination of candidates and grant
diplomas, and further are hereby authorized and
empowered to confer, in the name of and under
such rules and regulations as said College may
establish, the degree of Doctor in Pharmacy, and
such other degrees or ordei's of merit as may con-
duce to the advancement of the science of Phar-
macy.
Sec. o. And be it further enacted, That an elec-
tion shall be held semi-annually by the members
present at general meetings to be held in July and
January of each and every year (after January,
eighteen hundred and seventy,) for the election of
officers by ballot, viz ; For President, Secretary,
