CHAPTER 97.

AN ACT to authorize "Philos Lodge," number
ninety-one, Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
to divide into burial lots the parcel of land owned
by it known as the "Philos Cemetery," and to
sell the same and issue certificates of title there-
for.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the parcel of land, owned by
"Philos Lodge," number ninety-one, Independent
Order of Odd Fellows, known as the "Philos Ceme-
tery," at Westernport, in Allegany County, be
laid off into lots for the interment of the dead, of
sizes and shapes, at the discretion of said Lodge,
to be separately numbered, &c., and that a plat of
gaid Cemetery showing the location of said lots, the
walks and other features of said Cemetery, be made
out and preserved by the said Lodge, and that said'
Lodge may sell at its discretion any of said lots; at
public or private sale, from time to time as oppor-

tunity offers; and that a certificate under the seal
of the said Lodge, of the ownership of any of the
said lots, shall have the same effect in all respects,
as any deed of conveyance from said Lodge, of such
lots would have, if executed, acknowledged and re-
corded as conveyances of real estate are required to
be, and the said Lodge, shall have power to make
by-laws and rules for the government of said Ceme-
tery.

Sepulchre
alone.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That every lot con-
veyed in said Cemetery, shall be held by the pro-
prietor for the purpose of sepulchre alone, and for
none other as real estate, and shall not be subject
to attachment or execution.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
