CHAPTER 25.

AN ACT to repeal Sections one and two, of Chap-
ter two hundred and forty, passed at the Decem-
ber Session of the General Assembly, eighteen
hundred and sixty-one, entitled, " an Act to
amend Article four of the Code of Public Local
Laws, relating to the city of Baltimore, by im-
posing penalties for polluting the water in Swan
Lake, the dam, reservoirs, line of conduit, water
pipes, gate house, or other works constructed
or used in supplying the city of Baltimore with
water, or injuring, defacing or destroying the
same," and to re-enact the said sections so as to
read as follows:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Sections one and two, Chapter
two hundred and forty, of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the December
Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, be and
the same are hereby repealed, and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:

Repealed.

Sec. 1. That if any person shall wilfully pollute
the water in any lake, dam, reservoir, line of con-
duit, water pipe, gate house, or other work con-
structed or used for supplying the city of Balti-
more with water, by swimming, bathing, or [or]
washing therein, or by washing or causing to be
washed therein, or so near thereto as to pollute the
water therein, any clothes, the skin of any dead
animal, or any impure, foetid or noxious animal or
vegetable matter; or shall throw, or cause to be
thrown therein, or so near thereto as to pollute the
water therein, any impure, foeted or noxious ani-

offending shall forfeit and pay a sum not less than
five nor more than fifty dollars for each offence.

to be erected any privy, hog pen, bleaching or dye-
ing establishment, or other thing, over any lake,
dam, reservoir, line of conduit, water pipe, gate
