On motion by Mr. Timmons,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment, agreeably to the nomination.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

THURSDAY, March 24,1870.

The following communications which had been received
from his Excellency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of R. O.
Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 23,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I nominate P. G. M. Griffith as Justice of the Peace for
the 9th district of Frederick county, vice William Lare, de-
clined the appointment.

I also nominate William F. Gatton as Officer of Registra-
tion for the 1st district of said county, vice G. Eichelberger,
declined the appointment.

ODEN BOWIE.
On motion by Mr. Biggs,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments, agreeably to the nominations.
