920 EXECUTIVE PROCEEDINGS

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

The Senate refused to advise and consent to the appoint-

ment of J. Frank Smith and George H. Barber as Officers

of Registration for the first and fifth districts of St. Mary's
county.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

The Senate advised and consented to the appointment of
Samuel Tubman and John B. Russell as Coroners for St.
Mary's county, agreeably to the nominations of the 17th of
February, instant.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

The Senate advised and consented to the appointment of
J. Frank Ford as Notary Public at Leonardtown, agreeably
to the nomination of the 17th of February, instant.

The following communications which had. been received
from His Excellency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of Rich-
ard C. Hollyday, Esquire, Secretary of State, were read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, February 20,1870.
Gentlemen, of the Senate of Maryland:

I nominate the following named gentlemen as Officers of
Registration, Justices of the Peace, and Notaries Public, for
Washington county:
