TUESDAY, January 25,1870.

The following communications, which had been received.
from his Excellency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of R. C.
Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State : were read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, January 25,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland :

I herewith transmit to you the Executive appointments
made by my predecessor in officer during the recess of the
Senate, for Frederick county:

May 4, 1868.—Ezra L. Karn, Justice of the Peace 12th
district, vice G. W. Howe, who declined.

May 15, 1868.—William H. Hilleary, Justice of the Peace
12th district, vice self, failing to qualify.

May 15, 1868.—Thomas Johnson, Justice of the Peace 12th
district, vice self, failing to qualify.

May 29, 1868.—Joel Hall, Justice of the Peace 9th district,.

vice self, failing to qualify.

May 29, 1868.—John B. Stimmel, Justice of the Peace 13th

district, vice self, failing to qualify.

 
June 26, 1868.—Jonathan Keller, Justice of the Peace 1st
district, vice self, failing to qualify.

Jane 26, 1868.—Joseph Goodman, Justice of the Peace 12th
district, vice self, failing to qualify.

On motion by Mr. Biggs,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments, agreeably to the nominations.
