Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I hereby nominate Alexander Keech, School Commissioner,
5th district, St. Mary's county, vice Henry C. Adams, elected
to that office at the late election and declined to serve.

In making this nomination I would call your attention to
the fact, that no provision is made by law for filling such
vacancies, and I deem it proper to make the nomination in
accordance with the 10th section of the 2d Article of the Con-
stitution.
