So two-thirds of 511 the Senators elected having voted in
the affirmative.

Said bill was read the second time.
On motion by Mr. Clarke,

The Senate; proceeded to the consideration of the House
bill entitled an Act to appropriate sixty-nine thousand, two
hundred and ninety-six dollars and twenty-eight cents to
pay the various mechanics and. others for work done and materials
furnished in the erection of the Governor's mansion.

Said. bill being upon the third reading,
Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment:
Amend by adding the following section :

SECTION—And be it further enacted, That the Comptroller
is hereby required, to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer in
favor of William Black for thirteen thousand nine hundred
and thirty-seven dollars and fifty-nine cents, in full of all
claims against the State of Maryland, for the purchase of a
lot and erection thereon of a stable and carriage house for
the Executive Mansion, in Annapolis; provided, that no part
of the money hereby appropriated shall be paid to the said
Black until the Attorney General shall have certified to the
Comptroller that he has made an examination of the title of
said property, and has found the same properly vested in the
State.

On the question being put,

It was determined in the negative, by yeas and nays, as
follows:

Mr. Parker moved that the further consideration of said
bill be postponed until Monday, at 12 o'clock.
