Which was read the first time and referred to the Senators.
from Frederick, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties.

A bill entitled an Act to enable the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore to endorse the first mortgage bonds of the,
Lynchburg and Danville Railroad Company, to the amount
of $750,000.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Senators
from Baltimore city.

Mr. Denson moved that said bill be read the second time
this day.

The yeas and nays were called, as required by section 27,
of Article 3, of the Constitution, and appeared, as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Miller,
Browne, Sellman,
Clarke, Snyder,
Denson, Spates,
Earle, Stephenson,
Fields, Timmons,
Henkle, Welch,
Hyland, Wilson—17.
Malone,
NEGATIVE—None.

So two-thirds of all the Senators elected having voted in the-
affirmative,

Said bill was read the second time.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to provide a suitable portrait of the late Thomas G.
Pratt,

Was read the third time and lost for want of a constitu-
tional majority, by yeas and nays, as follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Clarke, Sellman,
Denson, Spates,
Earle, Timmons,
Henkle, Wilson—12.

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Fields, Snyder,
