Being on the third reading.

Mr. Hyland moved to strike out the enacting clause.
On the question being put,
It was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Jump, from the Committee on Pensions, to whom was
referred House bill entitled an Act for the payment of Wm.
Brown, of Annapolis, who lost his arm whilst in the service
of the State, reported it without amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

The House bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of 1866,

chapter 156, entitled an Act to establish the Maryland Indus-
trial School for Girls, by providing for the appointment of

State Directors therein, and the exercise thereby of the pow-

ers of a Female House of Refuge.

Being upon the third reading,

Mr. Fields moved that the said bill be recommitted to the
Committee on Corporations.

On the question being put,
It was determined in the affirmative.

The House bill entitled, an Act to repeal the 7th and 8th
sections of an Act to incorporate the Baltimore Permanent
Building and Land Society, passed January session, 1867,

chapter 358,

Being on the third reading,

Mr. Fields moved that the said bill be recommitted to the

Committee on Corporations.

On the question being put,
It was determined, in the affirmative.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to whom was
referred House bill entitled an Act making appropriations
for the support of the Government for the year ending Janu-
ary 1, 1871, reported it with the following amendments :

Strike out the words "to the Law Department of the Uni-
versity of Maryland, one thousand five hundred dollars,"
where they occur in the section sub-title "Baltimore City."

Which was read and adopted.

Amend under the head "Charitable Institutions," lines 8

and 9, strike out the words: for "St. Mary's Industrial School,
ten thousand dollars."

Which was read and adopted by yeas and nays, as follows:
