The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Mr. Wilson presented the petition of the County Commis-
sioners and sundry tax payers of Prince George's county,
praying a reduction in fees for support of criminals in the
jail of said county.

Which was read and referred to the Senators from Prince
George's and Carroll counties and the second legislative dis-
trict of Baltimore city.

Mr. Miller presented the petition of Hugh Steel and 78
other citizens of Port Depost, remonstrating against the pas-
sage of a law relating to the limits of said town of Port De-
posit.

Also,

The petition of V. H. Rowland and 59 other citizens of
Port Deposit, remonstrating against the passage of a law
relating to the limits of said town of Port Deposit.

Which were severally read. and referred, to the Senators
from Cecil, Carroll and Worcester counties.

On motion by Mr. Malone, it was

Ordered, That the President of the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal Company be requested to inform the Senate, what was
the amount of the funds of the Company retained for expen-
ses, &c., during the winter, remaining in the Treasury or
depositories of the Company, after deducting the $160,000,
appropriated to pay creditors, by their resolution of Decem-
ber 9th, 1869; and, also, to transmit to the Senate a statement
showing how that amount so retained, and. the sum of
$21,904 05, the difference between $101,565, balance of ap-
propriation, after paying Virginia $58,435, and the sum of
$79,660.95, reported to the Senate on .the 22d instant, as
"the amount now in the Treasury of the Company," has
been disposed of.

On motion by Mr. Henry,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to amend Article 10, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Attachments," by adding an
additional section thereto, authorizing attachments under
certain limitations, when a debt is not due.

On motion by Mr. Henry,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to amend Article 75, section 23, of
the Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland,
relating to amendment of proceedings in actions at law.
