prior to the year 1866,

Which was read the first time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to transfer the sum of money ap-
propriated by chapter 303, section 1, of the Acts of 1860, to
the Elkton and Sassafras Railroad Company, from said Com-
pany to the Elkton and Massey's Railroad Company, reported
it without amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 63, of Article 81,
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Revenue and
Taxes," and re-enact the same with amendments, reported it
without amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

Mr. Clarke, from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled on Act to incorporate
the Towsontown Gas Light Company.

Which was read the first time.
On motion by Mr. Carroll,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the Senate
bill entitled, an Act to repeal, the Act of 1867, chapter 385,
entitled an Act to provide for the payment of pensions to
Maryland soldiers of the war of 1812, and widows of deceased
soldiers of the war of 1812.

Said bill being upon the second, reading,
Mr. Fields submitted the following amendment :

Section 2, 4th line strike out the words : during his or her
natural life.

Mr. Fields withdrew said amendment.
Mr. Fields submitted the following amendment :

Line 10, section 2, after the word "Maryland," add : at the
time they entered, the army, and have remained residents to
the present time.

Which was read and rejected.
Mr. Carroll submitted the following amendment :

Amend section I by adding, after the word "eighty-five,"
the words : relating to the payment of pensions

Which was read and adopted.
The section, as amended, was then read and adopted.
