titled an Act to authorize the Adjutant General to furnish
the students at the Agricultural College with arms.

Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment to the
bill as amended by the House:

At the end of the House amendments to section 1, add the
words: or such other suitable arms as may now be in the
armory at this time.

Which was read and concurred in.

The question then recurred upon the amendment to the
House amendment,

And it was determined in the affirmative.

Said bill, as amended, was then passed by yeas and nays, as
follows:
AFFIRMATIVE.

Carroll, Kimmel,
Clarke, Miller,
Earle, Parker,
Grove, Snyder,
Henkle, Spates,
Henry, Timmons—14.

NEGATIVE—None.

Said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to whom was
referred House bill entitled an Act to provide a House of
Refuge for colored children, and to appropriate a sum of
money to the same, reported it with the following amend-
ments :

1st. Amend title by striking out the word "refuge," and
insert in lieu thereof the words: reformation and instruc-
tion.

2d. Amend 1st section, 9th line, by striking out the word
"refuge," and insert the words: reformation and instruction.

3d. Amend sec. 12, line 3, by striking out all after the
word "in," at the end of the second line, to the word "and,"
in third, and insert in lieu thereof the words: in any part of
the State of Maryland.

4th. Amend bystriking out the word "refuge," in the
7th, 11th, 15th and 17th lines, and insert in each of these
lines in lieu thereof, the words: reformation and instruction.

Which were severally read and concurred in.
