Mr. Timmons submitted the following amendment:

Amend by adding the following words in line 2, section 7:
set apart for the use of vessels carrying tobacco.

Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Parker submitted the following amendments :

Amend section 2, 3rd line, after the word "left," by in-
serting the word exclusively; and line 4, after the word
"warehouse," insert: in other country produce other than
cord wood ; line 9, strike out the word "said," and insert:
her side of the.

Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Parker submitted the following amendment :

After the words "cord wood" in fourth line, insert : On
which said produce or other articles the State Wharfinger
shall collect wharfage according to the rate of charges estab-
lished by the laws of the State.

Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment :

Add at end of 3d section the words : In good condition
and repair.

Which was read and adopted.

The several sections as amended were then read and adopt-
ed.

Mr. Timmons submitted the following amendment:

Amend the third section as follows, after the word "Mary-
land," in the fourth line, by adding the following : And the
said Mason L. Weems shall pay annually to the Comptroller
of the State of Maryland, for the use and benefit of said State,
the sum of twelve hundred and fifty dollars, and the time of
payment shall commence from the date that the first steamer
uses said pier, and the said Mason L. Weems shall report un-
der oath to the Comptroller the day and year he commences
to use said pier.

Mr. Timmons called for the yeas and nays.
On the question being put,
It was determined in the negative.
