22 Chaplains— Rev. Messrs. J. J. Henderson, William S.
Southgate, L. O. Miller, George Hildt and Father Frei-
tag.

Mr. Hyland presented the petitions of James McDorman
and Fannie Bedworth, of Somerset county, asking for a pen-
sion.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

On motion by Mr. Wilson,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Prince George's
and Carroll counties, and second legislative district of Balti-
more city, to report a bill to change the term of service of
petit jurors of the Circuit Court of Prince George's county.
On motion by Mr. Snyder,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to empower the Incorporators of
the Chester River Steamboat Company of Baltimore city, to
build a wharf in front of the State Tobacco Warehouse No.
3, in the City of Baltimore.
Mr. Henry submitted the following :

WHEREAS, The Senate has heard with profound regret of
the death in this city, of William Quimby, a faithful and
efficient officer of this Body ; and whereas, it is proper and
becoming that due respect should be paid to his memory,
therefore,

Ordered, That the President of the Senate be, and he is
hereby requested to depute one of the officers of this Body,
to make suitable arrangements for the conveyance of the re-
mains of the deceased, to the residence of his family in Tal-
bot county, and that said officer be directed to accompany
the same to their destination,
Which was read and adopted.
The Chair appointed Mr. Philip Medders.
On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Dor-
chester and Caroline counties, to introduce a bill to amead
section 10, of the Act of 1868, chapter 299, title Public Roads,
so as to apply the provisions of said Act to Wicomico county.

Mr. Spates from the Select Committee, to whom was re-
ferred .House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the County Commissioners of Cecil county, to build or repair
certain public buildings in said county.
Reported it without it amendment.
Said bill was then read the second time
