The Joint Assembly then proceeded to another ballot.
Upon counting the ballot, Mr. Malone, on the part of the
tellers, reported that there had been twenty-four votes cast
on the part of the Senate, eighty-three on the part of the
House, of which

John W.Davis had received:..............51 votes.
Wm. H.Owens " ............... I "
Thomas W.Morse " ...............55 "

Total number of votes cast............107

Whereupon it appearing that the Hon. Thomas W. Morse
had received a majority of all the votes cast, the Speaker de-
clared the Hon. 'Thomas W. Morse duly elected Police Com-
missioner for the term of four years, from the expiration of
the term of the present Board of Police Commissioners.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,
The Joint Assembly then adjourned,

On the return of the Senators the unfinished business of'
yesterday came up as the order of the day.

The question being upon the adoption of the unfavorable
report of the Committee on Finance on House Joint Resolu-
tions in reference to the claim of the State against the Balti-
more and Ohio Railroad Company.

 
On motion by Mr. Fields,

The further consideration of said report was postponed
until to-morrow, at 12 o'clock.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered, the follow-
ing bills:

A bill entitled an Act to amend Article 46 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Inebriates," by adding thereto
the following.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of the. General
Assembly of 1868, chapter 292, adding an additional section
to Article 51 of the Code of Public General Laws under the
title of "Landlord and Tenant," by repeal of said Act, and
re-enacting the same.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.
