On motion by Mr. Malone, Leave was granted to Senators Malone, Henry and Fields,
to introduce a bill entitled a supplement to an Act entitled
an Act to found a college at Chestertown, and to provide for
an additional student therein for Wicomico county. On motion by Mr. Timmons, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to amend the charter of Snow Hill, in Wor-
cester county. On motion by Mr. Miller, Leave was granted to Senators Miller, Carroll and Tim-
mons, to report an Act supplementary to an Act for the es-
tablishment of an Academy at Elkton, in Cecil county, passed
at December session, 1817. On motion by Mr. Clarke, it was Ordered, That the Investigating Committee appointed un-
der an order of the Senate, adopted on the 18th February
inst., have leave to sit during the sessions of the Senate, and
that they have authority to employ a stenographer to take
down testimony, if in their judgment the same shall be ne-
cessary. On motion by Mr. Stephenson, it was
Ordered, That the Committee on Agriculture be instructed
to inquire and ascertain whether there is any law fixing the
weights or measures of cereals, and other articles of traffic,
and if there is no such law, to report a bill fixing the
weight or measure of all articles of farm produce. On motion by Mr. Henkle, it was Ordered, That the Committee on Judicial Proceedings be
requested to inquire into the propriety of reporting a bill to
provide for the employment of the unskilled labor in the
State Penitentiary upon the public roads, streets and high-
ways of Baltimore city and the several counties of the State. Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to whom
the leave was granted, reported a bill entitled, an Act to
amend an Act entitled an Act to incorporate the President
and Directors of the Chesapeake Fire Insurance Company of
Baltimore.
