250 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 18,

On motion by Mr. Stephenson and by unanimous consent,
it was

Ordered, That each of the Boards of County Commission-
ers of this State, and the Appeal Tax Court or City Collector
of Baltimore be, and they are hereby directed, to report to
the Senate at the earliest day practicable, the amounts of
revenue derived to the State for the last fiscal year from said
counties and city respectively from tax on mortgages. Also,
the amount derived to their respective counties and the city
of Baltimore from the same source.

On motion by Mr. Earle, and by unanimous consent,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill to promote the collection of the revenues of the State by
the Collectors of State taxes.

On motion by Mr. Welch, and by unanimous consent,

Leave was granted to Senators Welch, Earle and Stephen-
son, to report a bill to give protection to fish and wild fowl
in the waters of Queen Anne's, Kent and Harford counties.

Mr. Stephenson, by unanimous consent, from the Commit-
tee on Agriculture, to whom was referred the petition of
Hugh O' Connor and 50 other voters of the 8th election dis-
trict of Baltimore county, praying that no law may be en-
acted to prevent stock from running at large, asked that the
reference be changed.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,
Said petition was referred to a Select Committee .

The President appointed as said Committee, Senators
Clarke, Browne and Biggs.

The House bill entitled an Act to enlarge the corporate
power of the Maryland. Baptist Union Association, in rela-
tion to the holding of property,

Being upon its third reading, was
On motion by Mr. Clarke,
Referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

The House bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of
the town of Leitersburg, in Washington county,

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays, as
follows:
