Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries to report a bill for the protection of
fish by preventing persons from staking seines across the tide
in the tide-water rivers in this State.

The President announced a communication from his Excel-
lency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of R. C. Hollyday, Esq.,
Secretary of State, endorsed, on Executive nominations.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act to in-
corporate the Equitable Gas Light Company of Baltimore
city, passed at the January session, 1867, chap. 132,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to repeal section 2, of
Article 49, of the Code of Public General Laws, title, "Joint
Obligations and Joint Tenancy," and to re-enact the same
with amendments,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to change the name of
Sandy Hill, in the 8th election district of Worcester county,
to the name of Stockton,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to repeal the Act of
Public Local Laws, passed February 27th, 1841, chap. 137,
relating to the division lines of the 5th election district in
Baltimore county, and re-enact the same with amendments,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate" bill entitled, an Act to enlarge the powers
of the Commissioners of Washington county, under Article
21, of the Code of Public Local Laws, under the head of
County Commissioners, by adding thereto the following sub-
sections."

Was read the second time, and. ordered to be engrossed for
a third, reading.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to enable the Mount
Vernon Manufacturing Company of Baltimore city, incor-
porated under Article 26, of the Code of Public General Laws
of this State, as the same is amended by the Act of the Janu-
ary session, 1868, chap. 471, to conduct its manufacturing
operations upon property owned by it in Alexandria, Va.,

Was read the third, time, and 'passed by yeas and nays, as
