Ordered to be entered upon the Journal that the Hon.
Charles M. Jump is detained from his seat by pressing busi-
ness.

On motion by Mr. Welch,
The Senate adjourned.

THURSDAY, January 27,1870.
The Senate met, pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Carroll, Denson, Earle,
Fields, Henkle, Henry, Jump, Maddox, Malone, Miller,
Parker, Sellman, Snyder, Spates, Timmons, Welch, Wil-
son—21.
The Journal of Wednesday was read and approved.

Mr. Snyder presented the petition of the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, and other citizens of Baltimore, asking
for the passage of a law to prevent the wholesale slaughter of
Wild Fowl; within the limits of the State of Maryland.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

On motion by Mr. Wilson, it was

Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate be, and. he
hereby is directed, to have folded and transmitted to the news-
papers, in the different counties and cities of the State, copies
of the daily Journal of the Senate.

Adopted.
Mr. Maddox submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the postmaster be directed to furnish to the
officers of the Senate the same amount of stamps that are fur-
nished to the members of the Senate.

Mr. Snyder moved that the order be laid upon the table,
Mr, Snyder withdrew his motion.
Mr. Snyder submitted the following amendment:
