not only the expression of sympathy for the suffering Cubans,
struggling for freedom, but the immediate recognition of their
belligerent rights.

Which were read the first time.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing bills:

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 25 of Article 13, of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Howard county," sub-
title "Justices of the Peace and Constables," and to re-enact
the same with amendments.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled a Supplement to an Act passed by the Gene-
ral Assembly of Maryland at the January Session, 1868,
chap. 424, entitled " an Act' to incorporate the town of Ber-
lin, in Worcester county."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

A bill entitled an Act to provide for building a bridge
over the Gunpowder river, at Warren Factory, in Baltimore
county.

Which was read the first time and referred to Senators
Clarke, Henkle and Biggs.

A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act passed at the Janu-
ary session, 1868, chap. 161, entitled an Act to incorporate
the Frederick and Emmettsburg Railroad Company, extend-
ing said road and the time for commencement, and comple-
tion of the same.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

A bill entitled a Supplement to an Act, entitled an Act to
authorize the persons therein named to build a Methodist
meeting-house on the public grounds in Chestertown, in Kent
county, passed at the November session, 1801, chap. 37.

Which was read the first time and referred to Senators
Welch, Earle and Hyland.

A bill entitled an Act to declare the sanction of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the gift and bequest of Andrew
Small, late of Washington city, deceased, to the Board of
Trustees of the Neelsville and Darnstown Presbyterian church,
of Montgomery county, Maryland, and to a grant of land
made by Richard M. Williams, Trustee to said Board of
Trustees.

Which was read the first time and referred to Senators
Sellman, Hyland and Wilson.
