Wicomico county, asking further protection to Oysters in
said county. Which was read and referred to the Committee on the-
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message:

Gentlemen of the Senate : Your message proposing the appointment of a Joint
Standing Committee, to wait upon the Hon. Jno. Merry-
man, and inform him of his election as Treasurer of the
State of Maryland, has been received, and we respectfully
concur therein. We have appointed on the part of this
House, Messrs. Turner, Gormau, Streett and Webb. By order,

Which was read. On motion by Mr. Miller, Leave was granted to Senators Miller, Browne and Carroll,
to introduce a bill to amend the eighth Article of the Public
Local Laws of Cecil county, title "Elkton," by repealing
sections 66, 68 and 69, of said Article, and to re-enact the
same in an amended form, and to add other sections thereto,
granting further powers to the President and Commissioners
of said town. On motion by Mr. Grove, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal sections 6, 7 and 8, of Arti-
cle 56, Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Licenses,"
sub-title "Billiards," and re-enact the same with amend-
ments. On motion by Mr. Grove, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal sections 18 and 19, of Arti-
cle 56, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Licenses," sub-title "Fisheries and Horse Races,"and
re-enact the same with amendments. On motion by Mr. Grove, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to enable the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Hager's city, in Washington county, to levy a sum not
