Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to add an additional section
to Article XVI. of the Code of Public General Laws relating
to Chancery.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing messages, which were severally read:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 13,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received, the message from. your Honorable Body,
proposing to go into the election of State Treasurer, on Tues-
day next, at 12 o'clock, M., and concur therein.

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 13,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

In pursuance of an Act passed at January session, of 1867,
of the General Assembly of Maryland, we propose, with the
concurrence of your Honorable Body, to go into an election
for three Commissioners of Police, on Thursday, Jan. 20th,
1870,at l2o'clock,M.

You are requested to bepresent in the Hall of the House of
Delegates, on Thursday, 20th day of January, to proceed to
such election.

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
Januaryl2,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate .

We propose , with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
to appoint a Joint Special Committee of four members of the
House and three on the part of the Senate, to take, into con-
sideration that part of the Governor's message which relates
to the,Confederate dead of Antietam and Gettysburg, and
what legislation is necessary to secure their decent interment
in their own State.

We have appointed upon the part of the House, Messrs.
Gatch, Thomas, of Frederick, Wootton and Neill.
