Senate be adopted as the Rules of the present session, until
otherwise ordered. Mr Denson submitted, the following Order : Ordered, That the officers of the late Senate, who have
attended the present session of the Senate, and assisted in its
organization, and have not been reappointed to office, be paid
for days' attendance. On motion by Mr. Denson, The blank in said Order was filled with the word ' ' eight. ' '
The Order, as amended, was then adopted. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message: BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 6,1870. Gentlemen of the Senate : The House of Delegates has organized by the election of
the Hon. F. C. Latrobe as Speaker, and the appointment of
Milton Y. Kidd, Esq., as Chief Clerk. We are now ready
to proceed with the business of the session, and propose, with
the concurrence of your Honorable Body, the appointment of
a Joint Committee of five members, to wait on the Governor
and inform him that the Legislature is prepared to receive
any communication he may be pleased to make. We have
appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Merrick, Loker,
and Ritter.
