Said bill was then returned to the Senate.

Mr. Marbury, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably the Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal sections
171 and 172 of Article 16, Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's county, title ''Sheriff," and to re-enact sec-
tion 171 of the same, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills:

The bill entitled an Act to create State Banking Institu-
tions, and to enable the several banks in this State, State and
National, to avail of the provisions thereof,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments."

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Amend by adding to section 1, line 1: That associations
for carrying on the business of banking, may be formed by
any number of persons, not less in any case than five, who
shall enter into articles of association, which shall specify in
general terms the object for which the association is formed,
and may contain other provisions not inconsistent with the
provisions of this Act, which the association may see fit to
adopt for the regulation of the business of the association and
the conduct of its affairs.

Amend section 7, Article 7, by striking out all of the sec-
tion after the word "purpose."

Which were severally read and adopted.

And the bill, as amended, passed by yeas and nays, as
