So the motion to adjourn was decided in the affirmative,

And the House, at 11 1/4 o'clock, adjourned until Monday
morning at 10 o'clock.

MONDAY, April 4, 1870

The House met and was opened with, prayer by the Rev.
Father Freitag.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

ron, Shipley, Gatech, Choate, Turner, Hammond, Hardcastle,
of Talbot, Brattan, Lankford, Harrington, Woolford, Mee-
kins, Touchstone, Owens, Marbury, Wootton, Duvall,Thomas,
of Queen Anne's, Brown, Purnell, Thomas, of Frederick,
Bowlus, McCreery, Ritter, White, Harris, Ady, Hopktns,
Hardcastle, of Caroline, Garey, Blake, Webb, Wilson, of
Baltimore city, Wiley, McLane, Kirk, Collins, Ehlen, Gard-
ner, Markland, Marshall, Hoblitzell, Neill, Murdock, Sword,
Seibert, Watkins, Wilson, of Allegany, Standish, Myers,
Shower, Jordan, Winters, Merrick, German, Crawford—64.

Mr. Chapman submitted the following order :

Ordered, That in consequence of the unavoidable absence
of Mr. Brown from the Committee on. Engrossed Bills and
Resolutions, the Speaker be requested to appoint some other
person, in his stead.

Which was adopted and Mr. Hammond appointed on said
Committee.
