1214 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [April 1,

The bill entitled an Act to-pay M. A. Newell the sum of
six hundred and twenty dollars for clerical assistance hired
by him to aid in preparing two annual reports upon the con-
dition of the public schools of the State.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Claims.

Also,

The bill entitled an Act to provide an additional Justice
of the Peace for election district No. 1, for Calvert county.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Calvert
delegation, and Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel.

Also,

The bill entitled an Act to provide for levying a tax upon
the owners of dogs in Calvert county, and to appropriate a
portion thereof as a compensation to any person who may
kill or destroy foxes in said county.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Calvert
delegation and Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills :

The bill entitled an Act to remove the disabilities of all
persons which have been incurred under the 41st section of
Article 3 of the Constitution, and to restore them to the full
privileges of citizens,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Also,

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 861 of Article 4,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "City of Balti-
more," sub-title, "Streets," and to re-enact the same with
amendments,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."

The bill entitled an Act to ratify the action of the Mayor
and City Council of the City of Cumberland, authorizing
Jones' alley to be closed,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."

Also,

The bill entitled an Act to regulate the trial fees of the
State's Attorney for Kent county,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
