So the motion submitted by Mr. Wiley was decided in the
negative.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, (the rules being suspended,) reported favorably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act for the more strict compli-
ance of the State of Maryland with the provisions of an Act
of Congress approved July 2, 1862, entitled an Act donating
public lands to the several States and Territories which may
provide colleges for the benefit of agriculture and the me-
chanic arts, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Colton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, (the
rules being suspended,) reported favorably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to refund to A Sigmund the
sum of two hundred and four dollars erroneously paid into
the Treasury of the State, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.
Also,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to refund to M. F. O'Neal
the sum of fifty dollars erroneously paid into the Treasury
of the State, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.
Also,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to refund moneys overpaid
into the Treasury by James McNeal, administrator of James
H. McNeal and Samuel S. Yoe, late Tax Collectors for Talbot
county, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Morse, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
(the rules being suspended,) reported favorably,

A bill entitled aa Act to incorporate the Washington Mu-
tual Life Insurance Company of Maryland.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Carroll moved that the further consideration of the
unfinished business be postponed, and that the bill be made
the order of the day for Thursday next.

The question recurring upon concurring in the motion.

On motion of Mr. Carroll,
