FRIDAY, January 21, 1870,

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Southgate.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Latrobe (Speaker,) Loker, Martin, Beck, Wilmer,
Kilbourn, Baldwin, of Aiine Arundel, Wells, Duke, Mitchell3

Chapmen, Carroll, Cameron, Shipley, Gatch, Choate, Turner,
Haracastle, of Talbot, Lankford, Harrington, Woolford,
Meekins, Touchstone, Owens, Richards, Biddle, Marbury,
Wootton, Thomas, of Queen Anne's, Brown, Bowlus,
McCreery, Ritter, Harris, Ady, Baldwin, of Harford, Streett,
Hopkins, Hardcastle, of Caroline, Garey, Sanner, Hamilton,
Cooper, Blake, Webb, Wiley, McLaue, Colton, Kirk, Col-
lins, Gardner, Marshall, Hoblitzell, Neill, Welty, Murdock,
Sword, Seibert, Veitch, Kean, Wilson, of Allegany, Stan-
dish, Myers, Percy, Jordan, Grouse, Gorman, Crawford,

The Journal of yesterday was read.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial of the
President and Board of Trustees of the Maryland Hospital,
praying the passage of an Act providing for the sale of the
Maryland Hospital Buildings and appurtenances, and the
application of the proceeds thereof to the completion of the
Spring Grove Hospital, near Catonsville, Baltimore county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Public
Buildings.

Mr. Wells presented the petition of James W. Alien, R.
W. Tate, Thomas Ireland, and 54 others of the City of
Annapolis, asking for an appropriation of a sum of money
for the benefit of St. Mary's (Catholic) Parochial School in
said city, under the supervision of the Sisters of Notre Dame.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Shipley presented a petition from J. J. Perrigo,

and 100 others, praying for the passage of a ten hour law
for Cotton Factories in Maryland.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Manu-
factures.

Mr. Blake presented a petition from James R. Calnell,
William McConnell, and 148 others, asking that a law may
be passed to regulate Primary elections in the City of Balti-
more.
