the concurrence of your Honorable Body, the appointment of
a Joint Committee of five members, to wait on the Governor
and inform him that the Legislature is prepared to receive
any communication he may be pleased to make. We have
appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Merrick, Loker
and Ritter.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Kilbourn submitted the following order :

Ordered, That with a view to protect the interests of the
State, as soon as the Committee on Printing has been ap-
pointed by the Speaker, they be instructed, iu conjunction
with the same Committee of the Senate, to confer with re-
sponsible parties and practical printers, as to the best terms
and conditions upon which the printing for the Senate and
House of Delegates can be done, and report forthwith to this
House for its action.

Which was read.

Mr. Hammond submitted the following amendment:

After the word House, add—prior to the election of
Printer.

Which was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the order as amended,
it was adopted.

Mr. Markland submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Governor be requested to have the
national flap; hoisted at the dome of the State House each day
during the session of the General Assembly.

Which was read.

Mr. Watkins submitted the, following order as a sub-
stitute :

Ordered, That the Hall-keeper be directed to hoist the
national flag from the dome of the State House during the
session of the General Assembly, and to lower the same
when, the Houses shall have adjourned.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Veitch submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the State Printer be directed to furnish each
member of this House, as soon as practicable, with a copy of
rules of this House, as amended.

Which was adopted.
