Maryland Manual 1994-1995

Appointed by the Governor, the Council con-
sists of twenty members. Eighteen members are
appointed to three-year terms. They include a mem-
ber of the Senate; a member of the House of
Delegates; three persons having extensive experi-
ence with pregnant or parenting adolescents and
their families; five representatives of community,
parent or religious groups; two representatives of
local governments in areas with high rates of teen-
age pregnancy; and six ex officio members. Two
student members serve two-year terms. Every two
years, the Governor designates the chairperson
(Code 1957, Art. 49D, secs. 21-27).
