The Commission on Aging advises the Director
on Aging about programs and concerns of the Of-
fice on Aging. The Commission consists of thir-
teen members appointed by the Governor to four-
year terms. Eleven members, who represent vari-
ous regions, are selected because of their interest
in the problems of the aging. Of the thirteen
members, no less than seven must be fifty-five
years of age or over. One member of the State
Senate and one House of Delegates member serve
as non-voting Commission members. The Gover-
nor designates the chairperson (Code 1957, Art.
70B, sec. 3).
GUARDIANSHIP ADVISORY BOARD

The Guardianship Advisory Board advises the
Director on Aging regarding the Director's re-
sponsibilities as the guardian of persons. Estab-
lished in 1981, the Board is appointed by the Di-
rector on Aging (Chapter 521, Acts of 1981). It
consists of an attorney, a physician, and a third
member who is neither an attorney nor a physi-
cian (Code Estates and Trusts Article, sec.
13-707).
INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE ON
AGING SERVICES

Hygiene; Ruth Massinga, Secretary of Human
Resources.
The Interagency Committee on Aging Services
was established as part of the Executive Depart-
ment in 1982 (Chapters 101 and 330, Acts of
1982). The Committee is responsible for develop-
ing and updating a plan to provide coordinated
health and social services to Maryland's elderly. It

consolidates planning and evaluation efforts at the
State and local levels. Annually, the Committee
presents to the Governor and the General Assem-
bly a consolidated operating budget for aging
services.
The Committee consists of the Director on Ag-
ing, the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene,
and the Secretary of Human Resources. The Di-
rector on Aging serves as chairperson (Code 1957,
Art. 70B, sees. 4A-4D).

The Hall of Records Commission was created
in 1935 (Chapter 18, Acts of 1935). The Commis-
sion serves as an advisory body to the State Ar-
chives. The Commission reviews and comments
on the Archives proposed budget, publications,
and policies for public use of the Archives.
The Commission is composed of eleven mem-
bers: nine ex officio members; one senator ap-
pointed by the Senate President; and one delegate
appointed by the Speaker of the House of Dele-
gates (Code State Government Article, sees.
9-1001 through 9-1006).
