The Task Force recommended strategies to en-
courage adoption, particularly for children with
special needs, and outlined priorities for the future
development of adoption services.
The Task Force submitted a preliminary report
in December 1985 and its final report in January
1987.

In August 1985, the Governor created the Task
Force on Alcohol Abuse by Youth and Young
Adults at the request of the General Assembly
(Joint Resolution no. 42, Acts of 1985). The Task
Force was to develop and implement a plan
designed to reduce alcohol abuse by young people.
On October 31, 1986, the Task Force submitted
its final report.

The Task Force submitted a final report to the
Governor and General Assembly on March 5,
1984. The report defined problems and priorities
concerning arthritis and related rheumatic diseas-
es. It also detailed the incidence and cost of ar-
thritis and related rheumatic diseases, and the ed-
ucational qualifications of physicians who treat
arthritic patients. In addition, the report noted a
workplace study of costs associated with worker
absences due to arthritis, and surveys on direct
and indirect hospital costs. A copy of the report
may be obtained from the library at the Depart-
ment of Legislative Reference, 841-3810 or
