ALCOHOLISM ADMINISTRATION

In 1987, merged with the Drug Abuse
Administration to form the Addictions
Administration.

ASSISTANT SECRETARIES

The Department was reorganized in 1987 under
three Deputy Secretaries replacing the former six
Assistant Secretariat structure (Senate Bill no.
670).

MARYLAND STATE PLANNING
COUNCIL ON DEVELOPMENTAL
DISABILITIES

Transferred to the Office for Handicapped
Individuals in 1987 (Executive Order
01.01.1987.08).

DRUG ABUSE ADMINISTRATION

Merged with the Alcoholism Administration in
1987 to form the Addictions Administration.

OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL
PROGRAMS

The functions of the Office were transferred in
1987 to the Department of the Environment
(Senate Bill no. 671).

STATE BOARD OF ENVIRONMENTAL
SANITARIAN REGISTRATION

In 1987, transferred to the Department of the
Environment (Senate Bill no. 671).

HENRYTON CENTER

Closed June 30, 1985. Formerly under Mental
Retardation and Developmental Disabilities
Administration.

Board consists of five elected members of the gen-
eral body and representatives of State and local
government health and education agencies, medi-
cal associations, and education organizations.

JUVENILE SERVICES
ADMINISTRATION

In 1987, abolished; its functions re-assigned to an
independent agency called the Juvenile Services
Agency (Senate Bill no. 672).

DIVISION OF LICENSING AND
CERTIFICATION

Reorganized in 1986 as the Office of Licensing
and Certification Programs, under the Assistant
Secretary for Health Regulation. In 1987,
reorganized as the Licensing and Certification
Administration under the Deputy Secretary for
Policy, Financing, and Regulation.

MENTAL RETARDATION AND
DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
ADMINISTRATION

Renamed Developmental Disabilities
Administration in 1986 (Chapter 637, Acts of
1986).

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
ADMINISTRATION

In 1987, the Administration's functions were
transferred to the Family Health Administration
and the Community Health Surveillance
Administration.

OFFICE OF REGULATORY SERVICES

Abolished in 1985. Formerly under the Assistant
Secretary for Health Regulation.

STATE BOARD OF WATERWORKS
AND WASTE SYSTEMS OPERATORS

Transferred to the Department of the
Environment in 1987 (Senate Bill no. 671).
