The Accountability Task Force, also known as
the Education Expense Accountability Task Force,
was created by Chapter 85, Acts of 1984. The Task
Force reviews annual accountability plans of coun-
ty boards of education. These plans concern in-
structional objectives and expenditures. Their pur-
pose is to improve classroom instruction and
student performance. Annually, the Task Force
also reviews their implementation.

The Task Force consists of eleven members
appointed by the Governor. Members serve terms
that do not exceed three years. The Governor
designates the chairperson (Code Education Arti-
cle, secs. 5-401 through 5-407).
