The Governor appointed the Governor's Advi-
sory Commission on Reapportionment and Re-
districting in April 1981. The Commission was to
develop legislative and Congressional reappor-
tionment and redistricting plans by using 1980
Census data. In December 1981, the Commission
concluded its work and reported its recommenda-
tions to the Governor.

The Tourism Task Force reported on strategies
for increasing tourism in September 1981. Having
made this report to the Governor, the General

Community Development, the Task Force's work
was concluded.

The Governor appointed the Special Commit-
tee on Transit Operating Costs in 1982 pursuant
to Chapter 238, Acts of 1982. The Committee
charge was to study the operating costs of mass
transit. The study covered current contractual
agreements and procedures concerning employees
of mass transit operations, as well as other oper-
ating costs of mass transit in both the Baltimore
and Washington metropolitan areas. The Special
Committee reported its findings and recommen-
dations to the Governor and General Assembly
in January 1983.
