State Agencies
This Commission was originally created by the
Governor in 1959 to improve the Workmen's Com-
pensation Law and to insure that changes in the
law are made to improve the workmen's compensa-
tion system in accordance with the standards, but
at the same time to insure that Maryland still
remains competitive with the other states.
"The Commission meets regularly and
recommends to the Governor and the Legislature
improvements in the law. The changes considered
by this Commission are discussed with
representatives of labor, management, and the in-
surance industry and have resulted in a greater un-
derstanding between the various interests. Its
recommendations have been well accepted by the
Legislature, as well as the workingman and the em-
ployer.
