The Department of Transportation brings together under the direction of the Secre-
tary six primary transportation agencies: the State Aviation Administration, the Maryland
Port Administration, the Mass Transit Administration, the Motor Vehicle Administration,
the State Highway Administration, and the Toll Facilities Administration. Also providing
the Secretary with advice, guidance and direction in a variety of transportation matters are
the Board of Airport Zoning Appeals, the Maryland Transportation Commission, and the
State Roads Commission (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 41, sees. 206-208; 1969
Repl. Vol., 1975 Supp., Art. 94A). In addition, the Operating Services Center centralizes
many of the Department's support functions in one organizational unit.

tive method from which firm architectural
or engineering services should be procured
in cases when the compensation is over
$25,000 (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol.,
1975 Supp., Art. 41, sec. 23 IP).

The Board of Review of the Department
of Transportation consists of seven members
appointed by the Governor with the advice
of the Secretary and the advice and consent
of the Senate for three-year terms. At least
four of the seven members must represent
the general public. The remaining members
are required to have knowledge and ex-
perience in one or more of the fields un-
der the jurisdiction of the Department of
Transportation.
The Board is charged with hearing and
determining appeals from certain decisions
of the Secretary or of any administration
or agency within the Department (Code
1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 41, sec. 208B).
