The Board consists of seven members,
appointed by the Governor with the advice
and consent of the Senate for five-year
terms. Five members must be Registered
Professional Foresters and are appointed
from a list of ten nominees recommended
by the Maryland Chapter, Society of Ameri-
can Foresters. They must have engaged in
the practice of forestry for at least ten years
prior to their appointment.
The Board selects its own officers.
The Board was assigned to the Depart-
ment of Licensing and Regulation by sec-
tion 5, Chapter 4, Acts of the Special Ses-
sion of 1973, effective January 1, 1974
(Code 1957, 1970 Repl. Vol., 1975 Supp.,
Art. 56, sees. 299-319).

The Board of Examiners for Hearing Aid
Dealers, created by Chapter 634, Acts of
1969, consists of five members appointed
by the Governor with the advice and consent
of the Senate for five-year terms. The Gov-
ernor designates the Chairman. One mem-
ber must be licensed to practice medicine
in Maryland and hold a certificate of quali-
fication from the American Board of Oto-
laryngology. One member must hold a
certificate of competence in audiology from
the American Speech and Hearing Associa-
tion and have had at least four years of
paid work experience in audiology prior to
his appointment. The remaining three mem-
bers must be persons experienced in the
sale of hearing aids and be recommended
by the Maryland members of the Hearing
Aid Dealers Association of Maryland, the
District of Columbia, and Delaware.
The Board registers and regulates persons
furnishing hearing aids. It also tests audio-

metric testing equipment and inspects the
facilities of persons who practice the fitting
of hearing aids (Code 1957, 1971 Repl.
Vol., 1975 Supp., Art. 43, sees. 725-742).

The Maryland Home Improvement Com-
mission, established by Chapter 133, Acts
of 1962, consists of five members appointed
by the Governor with the advice of the
Secretary of Licensing and Regulation for
four-year terms. Two members must be
from the construction industry, one from the
field of finance and two from the general
public. The Commission licenses and regu-
lates contractors and salesmen in the home
improvement industry, investigates com-
plaints filed by homeowners against im-
provement companies and takes administra-
tive actions where violations of the law are
found (Code 1957, 1972 Repl. Vol., Art.
56, sees. 245-269).

Stables was created by Chapter 474, Acts
of 1968. The Board consists of three mem-
bers appointed by the Governor with the
advice of the Secretary of Licensing and
Regulation for four-year terms. One mem-
ber must be a duly qualified and licensed
veterinarian and one member must be an
