The Employment Security Administration
originally established by Chapter 314, Acts
of 1937, administers the Maryland Unem-
ployment Insurance Law. It is headed by
an Executive Director appointed by the Sec-
retary of Human Resources and serving at
his pleasure. The Administration adopted
its present name by Chapter 96, Acts of
1970 (Code 1957, 1969 Repl. Vol., 1975
Supp., Art. 95A, sees. 11, 12, 12A; 1971
Repl. Vol., 1975 Supp., Art. 41, sec.
205F).
BOARD OF APPEALS
A three-member Board of Appeals, ap-
pointed by the Secretary of Employment
and Social Services for six-year terms, hears
appeals on claims for benefits, appeals that
arise under the taxing provisions of the Un-
employment Insurance Law, and other mat-
ters that require appellate adjudication
including appeals from the hearing officer's
decisions regarding WIN registrants (Code |
