—young, aged, poor and others. Organized
into a number of task force committees in

Legislation and Criminal Justice, Employ-
ment and Economy and Housing
MARYLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY,

liam Filby, Director. Non-profit educational
institution which collects, preserves and dif-
fuses information relating to the civil, na-
tural, artistic and literary history of the
State, and to American history art and biog-
raphy generally. Maintains the Darnall
Young Peoples Museum of Maryland
History.
CIVIL AIR PATROL, MARYLAND
WING, Baltimore-Washington International
Airport, Baltimore 21240; Colonel Frank

funds appropriated are to pay the State's
contribution to the Maryland Wing, Civil
Air Patrol, to be used for basic operating
expenses.
BALTIMORE SYMPHONY ORCHES-
TRA, 120 W. Mount Royal Avenue, Balti-
more 21201; Joseph Leavitt, General Man- |
ager. The orchestra furnishes educational,
cultural and artistic services for the benefit
of the entire population of the State. The
orchestra plays approximately 285 concerts
per year throughout the State for all age
groups. Nearly 500,000 persons attended
concerts during 1975-76 season.
STAR SPANGLED BANNER FLAG
HOUSE ASSOCIATION, INC., 844 East
Pratt Street, Baltimore 21202; National His-
toric Landmark. Herbert E. Witz, President;
Mrs. Hugh MacD Martin, Director. Serves
to perpetuate the Old Flag House as a
shrine to our early founders. Many original
mementos of the Pickersgill and Key fami-
lies are on exhibition as well as interesting
relics of the War of 1812 period Pub-
lishes newsletter in addition to various
pamphlets, brochures, maps, and folders of
historical significance.
MARYLAND STATE FIREMEN'S AS-
SOCIATION, J, Francis Fatkin, Secretary,
Route 1, Box 702, Frostburg 21532. The
funds appropriated represent the State's
contribution to pensions which may be paid
to volunteer firemen or to their families in
certain instances and to provide educational
benefits to the children of deceased or dis-
abled volunteer firemen (Code 1957, 1971
Repl. Vol., Art. 38A).
COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS,
P. 0. Box 11910, Iron Works Pike, Lexirg-

Executive Director. The appropriation rep-
resents Maryland's proportionate share of
the Council's operating expense. The Coun-
cil is an umbrella group of various organi-
zations such as the National Conference of
State Legislatures, National Association of
Attorneys General and the National Con-
ference of Lieutenant Governors among
others. The Council, founded in 1933, is
a service organization which publishes a
variety of books, pamphlets and newsletters,
conducts research ranging from spot in-
quiries to in-depth analysis of issues and
arranges meetings and seminars for the re-
gional branches of its affiliate organizations, |
