Vol., 1973 Supp., Art. 81, Sec. 233). Property Tax Assessment Appeals Boards: Consists of three members appointed by the Governor from a list of three persons for each vacancy submitted to the Governor by the Mayor of Baltimore City, the County Commissioners or County Council, or if the county's charter provides for a County Executive, the County Executive with Council approval. Members are appointed to terms of three years, one term expiring each year. The Governor designates the chairman. Chapter 784, Acts of 1973 abolished the former Appeals Tax Courts in the charter counties (Code 1957, 1969 Repl. Vol., 1973 Supp., Art. 81, Sec. 248). Board of Supervisors of Elections: Consists of three members, one of whom must be the minority party member, appointed by the Governor, with the consent of the Senate, for two-year terms (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., 1973 Supp., Art. 33, Sec. 2-1 (a)). In Caroline, Dorchester and Kent counties the members are appointed with the advice and consent of the House of Delegates if there is no resident Senator for those counties (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 33, Sec. 2-1 (e) ). Permanent Board of Registry : One member appointed by the majority members of the Board of Supervisors of Elections and one member appointed by the minority member of the Board of Supervisors of Elections (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 33, Sec. 3-10). Director of Civil Defense: Appointed by the Governor for an indefinite term (Code 1957, 1966 Repl. Vol., Art. 16A, Sec. 7). Deputy Medical Examiner: Appointed by the Commission of Post-Mortem Examiners for an indefinite term (Code 1957, 1966 Repl. Vol., Art. 22, Sec. 3). Health Officers: Appointed for an indefinite term by the governing body of the county, with the approval of the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The governing body of the county serves ex officio as the local board of health (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 43, Sees. 45-53). Physical Fitness Commissions: Appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Sec- retary of Health and Mental Hygiene for indefinite terms. The Com- mission is composed of 15-25 members in each county and Baltimore City. The Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene designates the Chairman of each Commission (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 41, Sec. 344). Citizens Nursing Home Boards: Consists of ten members appointed by the governing body of the county for three-year terms. One member must represent the gov- erning body of the county. The Board selects its own Chairman (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., 1972 Supp., Art. 43, Sec. 666A).
