Executive Plaza One, Hunt Valley 21031 Telephone: 667-1100 The Handgun Permit Review Board was created by Chapter 13, Acts of 1972 as emergency legislation dealing with the wearing, carrying, or transporting of handguns, and became effective on March 27, 1972. The Board is composed of five members appointed from the general public by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Members of the Board are eligible for reappointment. Any person whose application for a permit or renewal of a permit has been rejected or whose permit has been revoked or limited may re- quest the Board to review the decision of the Superintendent of the Maryland State Police. The Board has the power to either sustain, reverse, or modify the decision of the Superintendent upon a review of the record, or conduct a hearing within thirty days after receipt of the request (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., 1972 Supp., Art. 27, sec. 36E). |
