Roland Tubman, Executive Director Tawes State Office Building, Annapolis 21401 Telephone: 267-5520 The Maryland State Board of Well Drillers was created by Chapter 584, Acts of 1968. The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Secretary of Natural Resources, with the approval of the Gov- ernor, for two-year terms by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. One member represents the Eastern Shore, one represents Central Maryland and Baltimore City, one represents Southern Mary- land, and one represents Western Maryland. The regional members must be licensed well drillers and be actively engaged in the well drilling business in the State at the time of their appointment. Of the remaining three members, one must represent the public at large and be Chairman of the Board. One member represents the Water Re- sources Administration and one the Environmental Health Administra- tion of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The Board administers and enforces all provisions of the Well Drillers Law. The Board is expressly vested with the power and authority to make and enforce such rules and regulations in order to carry out the provisions of the Act. The Board examines and licenses by written examination and field test, qualified applicants to engage in the business of well drilling in the State. The Board administers the statutory requirements of insurance and bonding, issues, suspends and revokes licenses, holds hearings in cases of violation of provisions of the law or any of the Board's rules and regulations, and in general, regulates the business of well drilling in the State (Natural Resources Article, sees. 8-608 to 8-613). Tawes State Office Building, Annapolis 21401 Telephone: 267-1261 The Scenic Rivers Review Board was created by Chapter 85, Acts of 1968, to make an inventory and to recommend annually to the General Assembly, rivers of Maryland and related adjacent land areas, which possess outstanding scenic, fishing, wildlife and other recrea- tion values of present and potential benefit to the citizens of Mary- land. The Board consists of the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, the Secretary of State Planning, the Chairman of the Maryland Environmental Trust, and the five departmental direc- tors of the department of Natural Resources. The Board cooperates with Federal agencies, other State agencies, and counties to inventory and establish a Maryland Scenic River System. Agencies within the Department of Natural Resources are directed to administer the Scenic Rivers Program in such a manner that it will provide wise management of this resource. The waters and adjacent lands are to be preserved for their scenic and aesthetic qualities. Scenic rivers may be developed to accommodate limited multiple uses.
